Scouts Take Part in Flag Day Event Prior to Summer Camp

Sequoyah Council Scouting America and the Health Wagon teamed up on Flag Day, June 14 in Kingsport for a joint event featuring Scout physicals performed by Health Wagon nurse practitioners, prior to the start of summer camp.

“We were so impressed with The Health Wagon leadership of Dr. Teresa Tyson and Dr. Paula Collins, (DNP’s), from the time we first met them we knew we wanted to work together,” said Scout Executive Director Greg Leitch. “Offering camp physicals with the Health Wagon in Church Circle was a natural fit to work together. We so appreciate Health Wagon Medical Director Dr. Smiddy and the volunteers of First Broad Street United Methodist Church, as well as Dr’s Tyson and Collins (DNP’s) for making this event a reality.”

“We love children at the Health Wagon,” said Health Wagon CEO Dr. Teresa Tyson. “So partnering with Scouts to ensure the children are health before they go to summer camp was an ideal win-win for both organizations.”

A total of eight Scouts got their physicals prior to heading to Camp Davy Crockett in Whitesburg, Tenn. for summer camp. Each Scout was presented with a BSA flag lapel pin to commemorate Flag Day once their physical was completed.
